Well to be honest I never thought I would be in the best shape of my life and competing in my first show at the age of 54.
I have always lifted weights, and I always thought my diet was pretty good but weighing in at 230lbs, I felt like crap.
My goal was to be in good shape to live long enough to enjoy my grandkids.
So, with my triglycerides soaring over 900 and my thyroid out of control for the last year, I needed a life style change.
I started first with getting 9 point pinch to see where I was coming in.
Then I started tracking my macros, this was a chore but it was necessary with my crazy work schedule.
I work 6 days a week and 10 hour days but very necessary to: 1.) make sure I kept on my macros and 2.) that I eat enough, yes eat enough!
I was eating 5-6 meals a day, the more food I ate (the right foods)the more weight I would lose.
At that point my wife was working toward her first show in October, so I decided “let me set a goal and work toward my first show.”
I would do PT at 6:30am with Derek 5 days a week, then go to work and then to the gym, hitting almost everyday 2 a day workouts, my meal prep was on point (thanks to my wife) my excercise was on point and I was feeling good and on my way.
During this 5-6 months journey I dropped 60lbs! I dropped my triglycerides down below 90,and my thyroid is perfect.
AND I did my first show in October placing 2nd.
This was an awesome experience and I’m excited to continue my journey in doing shows next year, plus building muscles.
My “new” goal is to do body building and classic physique.
Whether small or big you have to start somewhere and I’m living proof your never to old to start!
