3 years ago I was approached by a good friend to start a fitness bootcamp.
I thought the idea was dumb!
He said “with all of your sports, athletic and bodybuilding training, combined with your knowledge of anatomy, physiology and injury prevention…this is perfect for you!”
My thinking was simple, I can give way better attention to one person instead of a large group. I’m all about the results, so naturally I don’t want to have a group of people coming to socialize, ‘hang out’ or not give it their 100%.
We started small.
Small groups.
Small amount of equipment.
And most importantly….a SMALL understanding of what was to come!
We started initially with my mom, wife, mother in law and my top current clients from my SlimFit Weight Loss diet program.
Within weeks the energy, the accountability and the unity within the group was BOOMING.
Our small group of 8 people met twice weekly under a 25′ x 25′ carport in the backyard of my family’s chiropractic clinic which…was also my backyard growing up as a kid!
Fast forward to the beginning of 2013…..
After 15 months of steadily growing our group, getting amazing results with previously ‘unathletic’ clients and the word on social media spreading like wild fire, we decided to expand.
300+ tires, thousands of pounds of weights, multiple 350lbs monster truck tires, medicine balls, bats, hurdles and so much more were added.
We changed our schedule from 2 days per week to Monday through Thursday at 6pm each night.
The response?
More insane training. More referrals of friends and family members. Crazy strength gains and weight loss success by countless of previously frustrated gym goers and yo yo dieters.
By the summer of 2013, our fitness bootcamp program was exploding. The once new clients from the beginning of the year were now strong, toned and athletic.
They were burning more fat and getting leaner without strict dieting.
Challenges and workouts that once seemed impossible, were now routine.
In just 30 minutes a few nights per week moms, dads, grandparents and obese children were getting better results than they have ever had in their life.
But the part I was most proud of was that THEY LOVED EVER SINGLE WORKOUT!
In 9 previous years of personal training and diet coaching, I always felt extremely restricted with what I’ve wanted to do.
I LOVE structure but I HATE rules 🙂
For 3 years now, I have written a completely different workout each day. Each day has a unique twist, challenge or personal test that always keeps you guessing and on your toes. The body is always shocked and the mind is always tested.
We have expanded to 6 days per week of morning and evening sessions and do some of the craziest things you can think of on a daily basis!
In commercial gyms, this was just not possible. Generic programs were the norm. The body doesn’t get new stimulus and the mind loses motivation.
Now my A.D.D. and that constant voice in my head that tells me “to push harder, work a little more, do the what others won’t”, was put to good use!
The continuous progressions of movements, the little twists to target the muscles better and that little tweak to make that old injury stronger all come full circle for each and every client.
Where I would be wasting time counting reps of senior citizens in gyms previously, now I was kicking a grandma’s ass on tires, ropes, chains, parachutes and whatever else I thought could push them past where their previous comfort zone would allow them.
My previous doubts of only being able to focus on one client was been washed away. Now I can see from a birds eye view each day and night that people learn best from people. I can spend less time on teaching the basics and more time mastering each persons form.
It’s amazing how overwhelmed each client is on their first night. All the new faces, all the new exercises, all the yelling (opps!), all the different twists and turns but yet within a week each person is crushing their fears and creating new goals.
We are a team. We are a family. We are united.
For months now that voice and my head has been screaming “to push harder, work a little more, do the what others won’t”
In April I left my family’s chiropractic clinic after 6 years to pursue my passion full time. In July, my wife Shelly left the chiropractic office. We were determined to change lives. Live a life with passion and pride. We were all in.
Our goal was simple: educate and inspire
My dream, my vision, my passion has taken on legs of 93 incredible men, women and hard working children.
It’s time to push harder, work a little more and do what others won’t.
In less than one month our family will be moving to a brand new 4,100 square foot and 1 acre facility!!!
This would not be possible without each and every one of my coaching clients, private training clients, bootcamp family, trainers, family, friends, loyal email readers, facebook friends and most importantly the person who has changed my life in just a short 5 years to push harder, work a little more and do what others won’t….Thank You ALL so much!!!
This is an amazing day for us. I am so excited for each and every one of us.
We did this.
Together.
We are ALL this week’s Transformation Tuesday!
Lets do this.
