Guest blog post by Transformation Tuesday success story and mother of 2: Kristy Charest

I am a single mother to two of the most amazing girls in the world, Maelyn who is 16 and Kaela who is almost 14. Life as a single mother has not been easy by any means. 20140428_195808
I have lived my life making sure my children never want for anything and that kind of led to me forgetting about myself. I just thought if I focused on me then I was neglecting my kids somehow.
In reality by neglecting myself I was actually hurting my kids. By not taking care of me I was missing out on all the amazing things I could be doing with my kids.
My girls deserve to have me around for as long as life allows it and I didn’t see that I was taking that away from them.
My best friend Melanie and I had recently joined the gym and were going everyday almost for over an hour and just weren’t seeing the results we wanted to.
Jossie had told me I needed to come check out the bootcamp she goes to so I went with her on a Saturday, holy shit what was I thinking?!?!? lol First ever bootcamp workout and I went on a Saturday.
I could barely move after, but you know what? I did it! I got hooked. I told Melanie all about it and said you have to try it with me.

So we joined together, haven’t left and don’t plan on it.
Most times when you join a gym or something that involves a lot of people you tend to be involved with a lot of different personalities and it can be overwhelming.
You worry that you will get dirty looks or not fit in. I walked in there feeling so horrible about my body and was scared to death others would think the same way I did about myself. I was SO WRONG.
I walked into a family of people who where there to boost you up when you felt down and to keep you strong when you felt weak.
They keep you going when you want to quit and they even take the time to be alongside you to help you complete your workout even if they’re exhausted.
In my 32 yrs I never would have thought I would meet this many amazing people. I love that I am a part of their bootcamp family.
To get as far as I have in my journey I’ve had to overcome myself. I had to stop thinking I CAN’T do it and realize that I CAN do anything I put my mind to if I want it bad enough.
I injured my left shoulder years ago and was worried it would prevent me from doing a lot but Derek and Richard are great at modifying things to better help you if you need it.
My very first challenge ever at bootcamp, my very first exercise of that challenge I injured myself. I pulled a muscle in my lower stomach doing a pushup…wtf?
I was devistated but I didn’t quit.

Derek even had to kick me out a few times because he knew I was supposed to be resting.
Joining bootcamp was the best decision I ever made and It will be the best decision of your life too!! Hands down!!
Not only will you better your health and your life but you will gain the most amazing extended family you will ever meet.
They will push you, hold you accountable for yourself and give you the strength you never knew you had. I am constantly telling my patients all about it and encouraging them to try it.
I’m not done yet, I want to lose another 30-40 lbs if possible but mostly I am looking to tone up and get to a weight that works best for my height, age and lifestyle.
I want to skydive someday, I want to actually run for the whole 5k and not be out of breath (it’s the little things now) and I want to be comfortable enough in my own skin to put on a bathing suit and go to the beach with my family and begin making kick ass memories together.
I have changed so much about my life and my family’s life!

I changed what kinds of foods I keep in the house. I have introduced my family to foods they didn’t think they’d like and they ended up loving.
I am looking forward to having the energy and stamina to do things with my kids, to make ever lasting memories.
I have gained so much more self confidence!
There is not enough words or thank you’s in the world that can describe how much I appreciate everyone within the LiveFit Family.
Especially to Derek and Michelle for starting such an amazing place, living their lives inspiring others and to Richard and Sara for being such amazing, selfless trainers.
You all seem to know when our bodies can push us even further then we think it can.
