Have you thought about your goals for 2019 yet?

If not, it is not too late. This is the perfect time each year to evaluate the previous 12 months and see what improvements you want to make in your life.

Now obviously just because a calendar rolls over to a new year doesn’t mean that suddenly everything in your life is going to fall in to place and you’re going to be successful.

Life doesn’t work like that.

You need to first identify your goals, then find what consistent actions can help get you to that goal.

Let me explain a little more….

You cannot lose 50 pounds, but you can:

  1. exercise 4 days per week
  2. focus your meals around protein and produce
  3. drink more water
  4. stretch every morning and night
  5. walk the dog each night after dinner

There are SOOOOOO many things you can do to lose 50 pounds, but it’s not just going to happen because you want it to.
You have to work for it consistently day after day. Just like your job, your marriage, your friendships and everything else in your life that you’re successful in.

So why do so many fail at fitness?

In my personal experience and my opinion it’s because people wait for things to be “perfect” before starting to exercise. They ask question after question even though they never put your advice into action.

They want a perfect workout plan, a perfect meal plan, the best workout partner and on and on and on….

STOP WAITING FOR THE PERFECT TIME…IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!
There are so many things in your life that you do at 90%, 80% and even 70% that you are still successful in doing.

That’s because you don’t have to be perfect to be successful. Making mistakes and learning from them is part of the process. If you never fail, you never learn.

Think about some of your best accomplishments and I’m confident that you have made plenty of mistakes in the process.
Don’t let this be any different.

All you need to do is start something and get really good at that 1 thing first (like exercising consistently).

Once an only once you have stayed consistent with your first step can you now add a second step (meal prep every Sunday).

This process repeats itself each time you get better at the previous action step until you eventually are doing ALL of the things listed above.

So what happens if you fall off track? The steps are EXACTLY the same. Start over with 1 action step and start building momentum from there.

Remember in fitness it is not “all or nothing”. Instead think of it as “anything is something”.

Because each step, each bite, each thought and each action move you either closer or further from your goals.

Start writing down your goals NOW and start identifying what actions you can start taking TODAY.

So when the new year rolls over you are prepared, confident and already moving in the right direction. After all, a body in motion stays in motion!
