So it has been a long time since I’ve written a Transformation Tuesday story.
Just about every week for the past two and a half years we have featured a successful client story who started from humbling beginnings to overcome all obstacles in their past to achieve fitness success previously not possible in their life.
At the beginning of each month I identify potential top clients and from there narrow my list down to the three or four people that I will feature in the upcoming weeks.
After selecting those people, they receive the famous text congratulating them on their selection as well as a list of questions to consider while writing their personal transformation story.
This week I wanted it to be a surprise. Why?
Because this story is not ordinary.
In fact, this person is not ordinary, she is extraordinary.
You see when people think about the word bootcamp or see pictures on Facebook about our boot camp I’m sure it is very intimidating to see.
But what you don’t see in the pictures or think of when you hear the word bootcamp is friendship, camaraderie, support, loyalty and perseverance within the group.
We have 10 or so new clients that start with us each week but every few months a new person comes along who joins our bootcamp family that quickly becomes one of those smiling, supportive and encouraging fellow boot campers that helps everyone around them take it over the top and not settle for average.
These people are natural leaders with a Magnetic Personality that drives people to want to be around them and be a better person for knowing them.
They not only transform their mind and body but they also transform the people around them.
The person who I am talking about today is Shirley Ambrogio.
Upon first glance Shirley is just like most of our new clients. She has not worked out most of her adult life and her last fitness experience was a 2 month gym membership at Planet Fitness that left her feeling unmotivated, unchallenged, unguided and lost.
Sound familiar? To me that sounds way scarier than the word bootcamp!
Solidarity, isolation and lack of direction… That’s some scary s***!
Shirley has come into our boot camp and not only gained an insurmountable level of confidence but she is also inspiring people around her day in and day out to transform their lives and gain confidence as well.
How much weight have you lost since Christmas?
How many inches have you lost since December?
How many clothes that you wore in January are now hanging off of you because they are too big?
How many clothes that you couldn’t even fit into in January are now also too big to wear?
Well Shirley has done all of these things and more.
She has lost 4-3/4 inches from her belly.
She has lost 6-1/2 inches from her hips.
She has dropped 26 pounds of body fat in just 5 short months!
She has followed through on a New Year’s resolution. Who the hell still does that these days?
Well Shirley does and so could you if you were one of the people fortunate enough to know, befriend and work out next to her on a weekly basis.
You see that’s the part that people do not see from pictures on Facebook and when they hear the word bootcamp.
The support, the encouragement, the level of care and compassion is unmatched.
No matter what level of physical condition you’re in, everyone starts as a beginner.
Everyone is there to help the next person overcome what they have already accomplished.
Every person wants to see you succeed and will go out of their way to make sure that you do.
When you surround yourself with people like this you have no choice but to succeed and demand more out of yourself. You step up and rise to the challenge!
Congratulations Shirley on your initial success and I know this is just the beginning. Your energy, positivity and loving spirit is contagious.
Your fellow bootcampers, your trainers and myself are very proud of your accomplishments and proud to be able to feed off your energy.
Shirley-
“Thanks, it amazes me every month when I see the difference from January 1st. I can’t wait to see the results from this challenge. If I haven’t told you lately, I’m so grateful to you, Rich, JT, Sara and my LiveFit family. For without all of you, I would not have achieved these amazing results. ??
I’ve gone down 2 sizes now because the others are too big and baggy or ‘breezy’ as my coworkers say. I’ve gotten rid of several clothing items. I know my butt and hips are the biggest difference.
My waist as well I’m noticing because I actually have a waist now!
I’ve put on things that I haven’t worn in a couple years and they fit, some are even a little loose.
I had signed up at Planet Fitness two years ago, went for two months and stopped. It was the same ole routine every time. I had no one showing me what to do or how to do it. No one talked to you, it was horrible.
From the first day of boot camp, on a Weight Wednesday of all days, everyone was welcoming and cared about you. I had to stop because I was feeling light headed and nauseous. JT made sure Rich checked on me. Rich said ‘please don’t let this day deter you, Weight Wednesday is a rough day to start’. And I didn’t.
The members or I should say family of LiveFit are amazing.
There is friendly competition as we are experiencing right now, but everyone genuinely and truly cares about you, helps you, encourages you. That right there says it all.”
