Guest blog post by Transformation Tuesday success story and mother of 2 Missy Deschaine:
After having my second child 2.5 years ago, I started to struggle to maintain my weight. It was easier to grab something unhealthy and quick than make better choices. I started putting on more and more weight, until I just stopped trying to balance it.
I would tell myself that I would get on track soon, go back to the gym. “After next week’s BBQ..” ….”When the kids go back to school…” I always had an excuse.
Being the only girl in my house I am ALWAYS the one behind the camera, until this last fall when we went on vacation with another family. One look at the pictures she took of me and I immediately started crying.
Who was THAT person?
I had not stepped on a scale in over a year, I was oblivious to exactly how much my body had changed.
That night I stepped on the scale and found out I had put on 40lbs and 4 pant size in the last year and was 60lbs heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight!
I love running and it had always been my go to form of exercise (this time a year and a half ago I could run a 1/2 marathon) but I couldn’t even make it a mile with out feeling like I was literally going to pass out. My knees hurt, my joints hurt and I realized I need to get myself in better shape before I could go back to something I love.
I learned about New Port Richey Boot Camp through a friend’s facebook posts, and even then it took be almost a month to finally commit to it. I was so embarrassed about how out of shape I was and nervous to start something and not be able to do it.
My very first night at bootcamp I could barely do a single sit up, but Derek kept pushing me forward until I finished. The next couple of bootcamps were rough, but each of the trainers kept me going and I finished.
It was hard, but I realized that as long as I put the effort in, no one was going to let me fail.
The atmosphere at bootcamp is like nothing I’ve ever experienced, whether I struggle with a certain work out or have a great day I never feel uncomfortable or out of place.
I’ve started to look forward to going and feel bad when I miss a day.
I have more energy now than I have in a long time, and just overall feel so much better.
I still have a long way to go, but I know will get there!
