Guest blog post by Transformation Tuesday success story and assistant LiveFit trainer Kirsten Phillips…

2015 was coming to an end, it was getting close to the holidays and a friend of mind asked me if I would think about joining a boot camp she knew of with her.

My first thought was I have a gym membership that I use maybe 3 days a week and my focus had been on running 5k’s, 10k’s and ½ marathons, how could this be any different?

But I was ready for something new, so heck one dollar for two weeks; why not?

We stop by on a Saturday to check it out, right away while watching Sara coach abs & booty I thought it could be fun.

It didn’t take long to be hooked, between the workouts that were made to push you to your best to the warm and welcoming smiles that came from the other members.

By the first week I was in love and knew that the competitive and welcoming group of people would fill in an empty space I had been missing since my traveling soccer days.

The biggest struggle was time management, once I knew LiveFit was the missing piece to my healthy lifestyle I had to find a way to fit it in.

I still have days that I have to miss due to work and being sure that I put my clients first; but any day I can make it to bootcamp is a great day.

My biggest goal thus far has been to eat healthier and cut back on sweets.

But along the past 8 months I have set to many goals and challenges for myself and many I have accomplished. A huge accomplishment has been starting and finishing a 4-hour muscle retreat, this experience was an eye opener on all levels.

While bootcamp alone is a great place to bond with the other members, the muscle retreats are just that, A TREAT- the love and support during a muscle retreat provides you with an extraordinary feeling of power and family.

After only a couple of months of coming to LiveFit and talking about how much I enjoyed it co-workers started to ask me to start training them, I had laughed it off and thought while it would be something I would love to do where would I have time?

Now I’m completing my certification for personal training, and over the last few months I have shadowed Derek, JT and Sara with bootcamp workouts. I have also helped put together a work out and have received great feedback not only from the other trainers but from the members of bootcamp.

Future: As the plan stands now come 2017 I would like to compete in my first ever bikini body competition.

Over all I feel like the biggest accomplishment has been seeing the change in my body and my mind. It’s amazing how positive and rejuvenating every day can be when you are surrounded by people of all levels working at the same thing as you. (A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE)

The one things I have to say to anyone I talk to about bootcamp is, just go.

Give it time and you will keep coming back, the bond that you build with the other members and the people you come into contact with will help you keep coming back.

Don’t expect to be the best overnight, no one ever is. It all takes time and it doesn’t matter how young or old you are or feel, once you get started and everyone around you is there to help you and motivate you to become more you will come back.

The best part I have found with joining the LiveFit family is that it’s not like any other place, they will welcome you as family and will be your support when you need it.

Whether you’re having a rough day or just don’t feel like you can complete that last set of reps, someone will be there to stand by your side and tell you, YOU CAN!

If your greatest fear is walking into a new place, just know we all have been there. We too understand how you feel and we don’t bite!
