If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you…
That is an extremely powerful quote and one that you should repeat to yourself anytime something is going wrong in your life.
You see, we all start an exercise regimen at one time or another in our lives yet we do not apply the same lifting principals to the rest of our lives.
What do I mean?
Working out is simply pushing your body, muscles, lungs and mind past a point where they previously felt comfortable.
The entire purpose is to put your muscles under extreme conditions so that the next time they’re faced with the same conditions, it will be easier.
The body adapts to change.
The muscles grow stronger.
The lungs gain capacity and endurance.
And your mind…well it no longer creates a barrier to what you’ve already achieved.
You see the body is an amazing machine and capable of anything you challenge it to do.
If you move to a colder climate, your body will adjust.
If you start a new sleep schedule, your body will adjust.
If you lift more weights, your body will adjust.
The way your body adjusts is by adapting to the current pressure, temperature and weights by getting stronger.
It’s the same when you get a cut to your skin. It heals by growing a scab to protect the injury. That scab strengthens and turns into a scar.
The scar or callous that remains is thicker, tougher and prepared for the next time it is faced with similar change.
So, my question to you is…
When something hard, bad or challenging interferes with your day, life or goals do you crumble up and accept defeat?
Or do you rise up, learn from your mistakes and use that adversity to make you stronger the next time?
The next time you start an exercise program or attack a new goal, use your previous experiences to help forge new strength to overcome anything that comes in your path.
Grow stronger, smarter and hungrier for success.
Grow patience, endurance and strategies for success.
Don’t wing it. Don’t make it emotional. Just do the work and keep pushing forward.
Greatness is waiting for you on the other side of adversity…you just don’t know it yet because you haven’t made it there…yet.
Never peak, your best is yet to come.
