So over 90% of my clients were displaced because of hurricane Irma over the past week. I’m sure your meals, exercise schedule and Portion Control went completely out the window!
But that’s okay… I am here to help you get back on track and finish 2017 in Better Health then you started the year.
It’s too soon to say that you will wait until New Years to get started again so you might as well face the facts, put on your big girl pants and make the best of the next 3 months!
So when the wheels fall off and the train goes off the rails, how do you start back on a healthy track again? My best advice is to take the sniper approach instead of the shotgun approach.
What do I mean? A sniper takes one single shot at a laser focused Target and missing is not an option.
What I find to be the single biggest mistake amongst people starting their fitness journey as they try to be a master of too many things at once. Start with one thing first, have a laser-focused goal and hit it. Don’t move on to the next thing until you achieve the first goal.
Examples of laser focused goals…
4, 30 minute workouts with five minutes of crunches after each workout.
Eat a minimum of 15 g of protein with each meal, and no carbohydrates after 3 p.m.
Start each morning with 200 Jumping Jacks and 100 crunches.
30 squats every time you go to the restroom.
You see each one of these goals is an action step in disguise.
The difference in telling yourself that you want to lose 10 lbs is you cannot physically lose 10 lb by wishing. You actually have to do the steps, do the work and stay consistent in your follow-through.
Then, and only then will you start to build up momentum to add on the next laser focused goal.
So where should you start? Just like all the water we saw this past weekend, I would go to the path of least resistance. Whatever is the lowest hanging fruit from the tree and easiest for you to commit to, is what is best for you. Start building up small victories week by week and pretty soon month-by-month you, your family and your spouse will be in awe of the physique you’ve sculpted!
