f you were looking for a hard-hitting, motivational email this morning, well here it is.

You see, way too often people use excuses.

Excuses come in a million different forms from ways of stalling, ways of avoiding, ways of deflecting, or covering up laziness.

But there are also times where a lack of knowledge or understanding can be a legitimate excuse for someone. They just don’t know how to ________.

Now I would argue back that no matter what you want to start in life, you are always going to learn best by doing. Get started, make mistakes, learn and course correct.

Getting started today and making a month of mistakes will put you 30 days AHEAD of the person who plans out a perfect strategy for the next 30 days before getting started.

See while you look at mistakes as setbacks, mistakes are always on the path to success.

You look at a binge meal of your favorite foods as a failure. I look at it as an opportunity to learn how to avoid that struggle or satisfy that craving before you have the same moment of weakness next time.

No diet plan, no perfect note taking, no detailed planning is going to teach you how to get over that hurdle without going through it physically, chemically, emotionally yourself. So you might as well learn now, because it’s going to happen to you again and again and again on your path to success.

Right here, right now in this minute you have all the tools to get started in the direction of whatever goals you want to accomplish.

If your goal is weight loss or toned muscles and better health then don’t even start to lie to me that you don’t have the tools you need because I give them to you every day!

It’s not tools you’re lacking, it’s excuses you’re making.

Think back to your greatest life highlights, we take most pride in the things that were hardest to overcome.

It’s time to start doing, it’s time to start trying and it’s time to start failing. After all what good is an accomplishment if it was easy to start, easy to do and easy to keep?

You see, that’s the thing you need to also keep in mind when you make excuses…

It’s supposed to be hard, you are supposed to make mistakes and it should be really freaking tough to keep otherwise everyone else would already have what you are chasing.

When it comes to health and fitness in particular there is no start date, there is no end date, it is ongoing for the rest of your life.

To me there are 5 things that set you up for success when getting started with a new goal…

1.) Strategy or outline of an idea
2.) Action of the strategy or idea
3.) Course correction
4.) Accountability
5.) Bounce-back-ability (good word huh?)

If you look real close at those 5 things and read them over and over again, you still will not see excuses listed as one of those steps, yet it’s the one you are probably mastering best!

What you put your attention on most of what you are most likely to achieve.

If losing weight, having more energy, more confidence and more self-love for the person you see in the mirror and it’s time to start putting that attention on you.

You are the only person that can make you happy.

So you need to start acting like it. You need to stop letting the same excuses you have been telling yourself year after year dictate the course of your life.

If someone anywhere in this world has ever accomplished what you are trying to achieve, with less available than you have now, then you have no excuses.

There’s always a way. There’s ALWAYS a way.

After you finish this email, put your phone down and go into a quiet place….

I want you to think about what you have always wanted to accomplish and then think about all the lies that you’ve told yourself that has stopped you from achieving them.

I want you to think about why you have told yourself these things and ask yourself if your excuses are really true.

I want you to think about what you are afraid of if you tried a different method, push a little harder, stuck to it a little longer and actually accomplished your goal.

I want you to think about what in your life needs to change, and what one thing that you do most often in your life that is the bottleneck to that success.

I want you to think about what it would feel like to accomplish your biggest goal, then I want you to think about what it would feel like in 10 years to still be living with the rewards of achieving this goal.

I want you to cry. I want you to get emotional.

But most importantly as you are answering these questions and old excuses start pumping into your thought pattern, recognize them and shut them down!

New beginnings can only happen if there is something new beginning.

Change only happens when something changes.

It’s time to put away your BS and chase the life you want.

This will work for you. I promise.
