Suck it up! This is what I kept telling myself while doing a regular training session in the massive Florida mid-day heat, all courtesy of New Port Richey Bootcamp with Derek Kuryliw leading the way. Honestly though it was an intense training session followed by a wonderfully brutal outdoor jungle gym type workout. Yes, you read correctly… “Wonderfully brutal”.

When we are disciplining ourselves to train and eat right I find it is best to do things that you “think” may be too much of a challenge, I do this because I will almost always drive beyond my own boundaries of fitness and push full force. There are countless ways to grab hold of that momentum, but it is the key, you have to desire it so much that YOU are the only one who can push yourself. I have goals set for myself as a whole and also for each training session, but if I’m not mentally accepting of my own goals, my emotions will take over and tell that mental part of me we’ve had enough.

I just won’t accept anything less than success from myself. Sure, I may fail at times in the eyes of someone else; however if I met my goal, pushed past it then to me, I have succeeded. I am competing against my yesterdays self, bettering myself as each day goes on. This is something we should all do to avoid that plateau feeling. Oh you know that feeling, it’s the one where you’re working your bum off and seeing results then BOOM nothing for a week, or maybe two.

I’ve been learning to keep track of how my body is reacting to food, training and sleep, and I’m finding that it could be something so small that we wouldn’t even think of. This is where Derek’s expertise comes in to play. He’s made small adjustments and I am looking forward to the results of listening and doing.
