Gwen’s Story

I have always struggled with my weight…

food has always been my go to, comfort, never asked anything of me, never questioned or demanded anything…

I have done every diet there is and even had gastric bypass surgery…I lost 180 lbs and managed to gain back 60 of it, because I never changed the way I think about food, I just changed the amount I could eat, and that has changed over time.

I am a nurse and have always put others ahead of myself.

Well a pretty traumatic divorce and my youngest son moving out all with in a year gave me some time to realize that it was just me now….I was not responsible for anyone else but me…and here I am 49 overweight and out of shape…but, determined to turn it around.

I heard about this guy doing boot camp from another nurse friend. So, I thought, I will give it a try. I started bootcamp around the first week of August…I could barely get up off the ground that first night and tonight just about 4 weeks later I actually planked for a whole minute…that may not sound like much to most people, but for me it is HUGE….

I think one of the most encouraging things anyone has ever said to me, was when Derek said, during a work out I was doing my best to run, and he pointed out that I was the only one running…then Derek said “some people talk about it, some people do it” I thought to myself….I am doing this! And I am loving it!

I have heard people say how they love working out and blah blah blah…and here I am loving working out!

I am excited and planning on a mud run in November….did I say that…yep I did…Love it!
