Transformation Tuesday guest blog by: Hayley Cochran

I’ve been pretty active my whole life.

When I was in elementary school, I did cheerleading and dabbled a little into gymnastics to assist with tumbling. In middle school I started mixed martial arts (MMA) and kept with it for 5 years.

Once I reached my junior and senior year I kept myself busy with school, working part time, planning for my future, and socializing.

My diet wasn’t the best. I ate home cooked meals, TV dinners and fast food from time to time; however, I never had a problem with my weight until I started nursing school.

I started nursing school October 2012 at the age of 18, just 4 months after graduating high school.

I quickly gained weight because stressed and exhaustion started to set in. My eating habits carried over to this next stage in my life because I never felt the need to change them.

For just over 2 years, day in and day out I was going to school, doing my clinical rotations, working full time, doing homework and studying.

I started noticing my weight becoming an issue in nursing school when the scrub pants I bought at the start were too tight to wear.

None of my jeans or shorts fit anymore. My now fiancé and his parents would want to go out to dinner and I would put back on my scrubs from school because it’s all that would fit.

I started to become depressed and my body image consumed my thoughts. I hated looking at myself. I would torture myself looking at pictures of models and I would just cry and feel sorry for myself.

I decided the try the Beachbody programs because I always see them on TV and hear great things about it.

After 2 weeks started making excuses that I was just too busy and how the workouts were too hard. I knew I was graduating soon so I figured I would just start it again at a later time.

I graduated December of 2014 and started working as a nurse.

My best friend and her boyfriend got engaged in 2015 and I was asked to be her Maid of Honor. I said to myself “well, I’ve put on a bit of weight since graduating high school so my goal is to lose some weight before the wedding.”

I signed up at my local gym and it wasn’t until then I realized just how much weight I gained.

For the first time in 2 years I stepped on the scale… I looked down at the number… 198 lbs.. In just 2 years, I had gained almost 50 POUNDS!

I worked out at the gym for about 2 months, but easily became bored doing the same thing every day for two hours.

Months later I joined Beachbody again, this time with a different program. I followed an 8 week program with strict dieting & intense workouts and it worked; however at the end of the 8 weeks I went on vacation and attempted to start again after but never did.

My next workout journey was LiveFit

How I got started: my friend at work heard of LiveFit and wanted to get a group of us girls to sign up with her so we could all get in shape and have each other for support. Initially I was resistant. I had never stuck to working out and eating healthy for long periods of time.

Initial fear: I was afraid of failing again! There’s something about letting yourself down that’s intimidating.

What made me decide to join: I decided to give LiveFit a chance because I knew I needed to be working out. I was planning my wedding and I had gained the weight back since I quit Beachbody 7 months ago.

So I decided to try it for 30 days and see how I liked it. Those 30 days impressed the hell out of me!

The team, the environment, the people, the workouts- Everything about LiveFit was (and still is) GREAT! In those 30 days, not once did we repeat the same workout.

I have now been attending LiveFit for 6 months and I still haven’t repeated a single workout! I love that because it keeps your body guessing.

Another great reason to love LiveFit is all the support they provide- not just during workouts, but with any questions I have had regarding nutrition, weight loss, supplementation, modifications, etc!

Derek, Rich, Rolo, and Kirsten are such a kick ass team of trainers and without them and their dedication to their clients, I think I would have given up.

These trainers provide the motivation and support that you need to succeed.

I’ve missed workouts. I’ve ate junk food. And yet I’ve still made progress. How is this possible? Because I get myself back on track which is something I was never capable of before.

You can’t let your failures permanently derail you from your goals.

Nobody’s perfect and nobody is asking you to be. When you throw your gloves in and quit, you’re only hurting yourself!

I’m not perfect and I still have a long way to go, but I’m not where I used to be and I am NEVER going back.

What I would say to others- like everything else in life, you just have to give it a chance.

LiveFit won’t work for you if you’re not willing to work for it.

Are the workouts challenging? I’m not going to lie, yes; but they need to be in order to change you.

Think about it- even if you take breaks or are only able to complete half the workout, that’s still better than sitting on your couch feeling sorry for yourself.

The workouts will get easier and you will get stronger, but you have to work for it and you have to earn it!
