As a past fitness professional I get a lot of emails saying “check out what I just bought” or “this program lets you eat what you want”. I am not knocking any specific program when I say this “do what works for you”. Everyone is unique. Each body works in different ways, our digestive systems, metabolism and cardiovascular systems. Sure we were all made with the same ingredients, however over time we have put our own ingredients into our bodies which changes the insides.

When looking for something that works for you don’t buy it or engage in it unless you are committed. Have you made changes already? Are you committed to working hard to improve your lifestyle? Can you handle the emotional rollercoaster that comes with “just starting off? It’s great to go a few times or do something a few times but if it isn’t fun and affordable for you, then you ultimately won’t stick with it. You have to be happy and content with yourself and the possibilities of how you can improve before you can grasp onto that one thing that will help you. You need to be ready to hold on tight. I think this was a struggle for me when I first began this journey at the beginning of the year because I wasn’t emotionally ready for the ups and downs it could cause. There are weeks you have progress and weeks it seems like you took three steps backwards. I forgot the most important thing…do it for yourself first. And I am. The hard part was finding the right foods or diet.

Diet…such a strange word. It implies you are doing something that restricts you from those foods you love and also it’s just a word to describe foods you eat. Diet should be looked at as what you eat, but more importantly what do you need to eat. Since beginning training, I have learned that I don’t eat near enough food or rather I didn’t eat the right foods at the right time. I am slowly getting used to eating six egg whites, I can’t always eat that many but I’m trying to give my body the protein it needs. Its been an adjustment however it’s one that I am enjoying because I’m learning a lot about how my body processes foods. The more you know about your body, the farther you can go.
