I guess we can call this “Round 2”.

I started bootcamp 4 1/2 years ago on a great friend’s recommendation at a time in my life when pounding a tire with a baseball bat was very therapeutic!

The weight fell off and my strength and endurance improved enough for me to feel confident to run two 5K races and compete in mud endeavors.

I felt well enough to postpone a required surgery, and instead opt for ongoing medical management.

However, the consequences of this decision included weight gain, (the 25 lbs previously lost plus 10 lbs more!), and progressively worsening muscle aches.

Following surgery, I tried to return to boot camp, but no longer had the drive or desire. The muscle aches were fading with time, but the weight certainly was not!

And then the ‘Derek’ text arrived. “How are your workouts going?”

“What’s a workout?” It had been over 6 months since I had even thought about it.

I resigned for the October challenge and was so incredibly fortunate to be one of the two winners for a year of free boot camp.

Round 2 started December 4th, 2017.

Rolo’s two sentences reverberate in my head most days: “No excuses”, and “I just need 30 minutes of your time”.

As of the last challenge weigh-in, I still weigh more than I did when I started 4 1/2 years ago, (and I was pretty unfit then!)

Seems it may take longer this time.

But I know once again my muscles are becoming stronger and my endurance is improving.

And my current goal is as simple as trying to make it to bootcamp 5 days/week. With that goal alone, I figure all the other goals will happen as a by product of this effort.

I so appreciate my good fortune of knowing Derek, Rolo, Ashley and Micki.
