In the past three weeks of our challenge, there have been a few particular people who’s performances have stood out. In particular ‘Momma’ Jean Hupp has been killing it!

For those of you who’ve watched Jean’s progression these past few months, you no doubt have been inspired by her consistency, her intensity and how far she is able to push herself day after day.

What most people don’t realize is that Jean has been with bootcamp since last December!

She didn’t start out as an athlete, a gym rat or anyone who had ever been to a gym.

While she has had good results throughout with agility and stamina, the changes over the past 3 months have been remarkable.

Since starting bootcamp she has dropped 30lbs and is much stronger than when she started.

Just like all of us, she loves food.. but her solution is to not even try anything that looks any sorts of delicious that she knows isnt good for her and that works to keep the junk cravings at bay.

Mama Jean is diabetic and through exercise and better food choices has managed to …cut her insulin doses in half as well as cut out two diabetic prescriptions completely!

So what is the secret to her rapid increase in success?

On July 3rd a fellow bootcamper and friend Ben Marshall signed up Jean and himself to start our FitBody private training group. He wanted a reliable training partner and someone who would always give him a good push to workout next to.

Since then I have seen a dramatic improvement in her drive and intensity.

She’s looked more agile and athletic.

Her performance daily at bootcamp has improved as well.

3 components that were missing in her life…

  1. Personalized focus- all FitBody clients are paired up with people of similar ability levels, goals, strengths and weaknesses allowing the workouts to be ‘All About Her’ and what she needs to improve.
  2. Correct form and technique modifications- when working so closely with a trainer multiple times per week, Jean has been able to fine tune her form on exercises to prevent injuries to her elbows, wrists, back and knees. When she’s had strains and tweaks she’s been able to continue working out with just a few adjustments in her lifting techniques.
  3. Accountability, camaraderie and a buddy- with having scheduled workouts multiple times per week, her trainer and training partners have helped keep her accountable. The loyalty built within the group makes her workouts the most favorite part of her days. Most importantly, she’s gained a buddy and a fan from her trainer Richard Blum. His daily texts and confidence boosting messages keep her pushing forward and making bigger strides.

“She has greatly increased her strength, especially her bench press, when she started she was benching just the barbell (45lbs) to now being able to push a respectful 185lbs!!

Mama Jean plans on continuing her fitness journey in pursuit of becoming stronger and achieving a healthier lifestyle!
