Transformation Tuesday blog by: Marissa Lenney

My current transformation journey started when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.breast-cancer-survivor

I’ve always struggled with weight and I have always tried new things, but just never stuck with it.

When I was diagnosed and on the road to recovery my doctor stated I needed to make some lifestyle changes. Losing weight, eating healthier and being more active could help my statistics of re0ccurrence of breast cancer.

At this time I had wanted to lose weight, my depression was very high due to body image and also anxiety of reoccurrence.

At one point my doctor prescribed my Anti-depressants and it made me sick to think of having to take one more pill. So I decided to take matters into my own hands! I joined the 30 Day Challenge back in May.

I was very intimidated to join because previously I was a member of bootcamp back in 2013 and I knew how intense these workouts were.

I was unsure of my ability to do a lot of the moves due to my chest tightness and Lymphadema in my left arm, but Derek assured me and said they would make modifications for me as we go.

The first couple of weeks were hard, but I was so determined to stick with it.

I could feel myself getting stronger and the mobility in my left arm getting better.

I’ll never forget my first doctors appointment after joining and I had lost 15 pounds. My Oncologist was so proud of me and so happy to see how healthy I was mentally and physically!

I am happy to say I never needed to fill my prescription for Antidepressants. Bootcamp is my Antidepressant medicine!

My first personal victory that made me crazy proud was doing somewhat of a pushup. To some that is not a victory, but for me it was everything.

I am proud to say I have lost over 20 pounds and have cleaned up my diet a lot.

My goal for the future is to finally do a full pushup and also a double workout, and also lose my next 20 pounds.

A year ago today I had just went through a grueling amount of chemo, surgery and was just getting ready to start 33 rounds of radiation.

Today I’m flipping tractor tires, running and sticking around for a full workout, even on Weight Wednesday.

Cancer was only a chapter of my life, not the full story. I am stronger then I ever believed I was and so are you!
